D.R. Horton, Inc., incorporated on July 1, 1991, is a homebuilding company. The Company has operations in 84 markets in 29 states across the United States. The Company's segments include its 44 homebuilding divisions, its financial services operations and its other business activities. It operates under the names of D.R. Horton, America's Builder, Express Homes, Emerald Homes, Regent Homes, Crown Communities and Pacific Ridge Homes.

Homebuilding

The Company's 44 homebuilding divisions are aggregated into six segments: East Region, South Central Region, Midwest Region, West Region, Southwest Region and Southeast Region. The East region includes operations located in Georgia, Delaware, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia; the South Central Region includes operations located in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas; the Southwest Region includes operations located in Arizona and New Mexico; the Midwest Region includes operations located in Minnesota, Colorado and Illinois; the West Region includes operations located in California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington, and the Southeast Region includes operations located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.

In the homebuilding business, the Company builds and sells single-family detached homes and attached homes, such as town homes, duplexes, triplexes and condominiums. Its home designs are selected or prepared in each of its market for local homebuyers.

Financial services

The Company's financial services operation comprises selling mortgages and collecting fees for title insurance agency and closing services. DHI Mortgage Company, Ltd., doing business as DHI Mortgage, is a subsidiary of the Company, and provides mortgage financing services to purchasers of homes in homebuilding markets. DHI Mortgage originates loans and sells the mortgages it originates and the related servicing rights to third-party purchasers. Its subsidiary title companies serve as title insurance agents by providing title insurance policies, examination and closing services, among others, to its homebuilding customers.

Other business activities

The Company has subsidiaries that engage in other business activities. These subsidiaries conduct insurance-related operations, construct and own income-producing rental properties, own non-residential real estate, including ranch land and improvements, and own and operate oil and gas-related assets.
