Stryker Corporation (Stryker), incorporated on February 20, 1946, is a medical technology company. The Company offers a range of medical technologies, including orthopedic, medical and surgical, and neurotechnology and spine products. The Company's segments include Orthopaedics; MedSurg; Neurotechnology and Spine, and Corporate and Other. The Orthopaedics segment includes reconstructive (hip and knee) and trauma implant systems and other related products. The Company's MedSurg segment consists of instruments, endoscopy, medical and sustainability products. The Neurotechnology and Spine segment includes neurovascular products, spinal implant systems and other related products.
The Company's products include implants, which are used in joint replacement and trauma surgeries, and other products that are used in a range of medical specialties. The Company's MedSurg segment products include surgical equipment and surgical navigation systems; endoscopic and communications systems; patient handling, emergency medical equipment and intensive care disposable products; reprocessed and remanufactured medical devices, and other medical device products that are used in various medical specialties. Its Neurotechnology and Spine segment products consist of both neurosurgical and neurovascular devices. The Company's neurotechnology offering includes products used for minimally invasive endovascular techniques; a line of products for traditional brain and open skull based surgical procedures; orthobiologic and biosurgery products, including synthetic bone grafts and vertebral augmentation products, and minimally invasive products for the treatment of acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.
The Company's spinal implant offering includes cervical, thoracolumbar and interbody systems that are used in spinal injury, deformity and degenerative therapies. The Company's products are marketed directly to doctors, hospitals and other healthcare facilities in the United States. As of December 31, 2016, its products were sold in over 100 countries through Company-owned sales subsidiaries and branches, as well as third-party dealers and distributors.
