Dover Corporation, incorporated on April 22, 1947, is a diversified global manufacturer, delivering equipment and components, specialty systems, consumable supplies, software and digital solutions and support services. The Company operates through three segments: Engineered Systems, Fluids and Refrigeration & Food Equipment. The Company's customers include businesses supplying the waste and recycling, agricultural, defense, automotive and commercial refrigeration industries.
Engineered Systems
The Company's Engineered Systems segment includes two platforms: Printing & Identification, and Industrials. It is focused on the design, manufacture and service of critical equipment, consumables and components serving the fast-moving consumer goods, digital textile printing, vehicle service, environmental solutions and industrial end markets. The Company's Printing & Identification platform is a worldwide supplier of precision marking and coding, digital textile printing, soldering and dispensing equipment, and related consumables and services. The Company's Printing & Identification platform primarily designs and manufactures equipment and consumables used for printing variable information (such as bar coding of dates and serial numbers) on fast moving consumer goods. The Industrials businesses serve the vehicle service, industrial automation and waste and recycling markets, providing a range of products and services. Its businesses serving the global vehicle service market provide products and services used primarily in vehicle repair and maintenance, including light and heavy duty vehicle lifts, wheel service equipment, vehicle diagnostics and vehicle collision repair solutions. The Company sells its products to national dealership networks, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), national multi-shop operations (MSO) groups, independent repair and service shops, national accounts and government/transit customers, through a network of distributors and channel partners.
The Company's businesses in the industrial automation market provide a range of modular automation components, including manual clamps, power clamps, rotary and linear mechanical indexers, conveyors, pick and place units, glove ports and manipulators, as well as end-of-arm robotic grippers, slides and end effectors. These products serve a range of markets, including food processing, packaging, paper processing, medical, electronic, automotive, nuclear and general industrial products. Its businesses serving waste and recycling markets provide products and services for the refuse collection industry and for on-site processing and compaction of trash and recyclable materials. The Company sells its products to municipal customers, national accounts and independent waste haulers through a network of distributors and directly in certain geographic areas. The Engineered Systems segment's products are manufactured primarily in the United States and Europe.
The Company competes with Danaher Corp., Brother Industries Ltd, Electronics for Imaging, Oshkosh Corp., Siemens AG, Challenger Lifts and Labrie Enviroquip Group.
Fluids
The Company's Fluids segment, serving the retail fueling, pumps, and hygienic and pharma end markets, is focused on the safe handling of critical fluids across the retail fueling, chemical, hygienic and industrial end markets. The Company provides fluid handling solutions from refineries and chemical-processing plants through point-to-point transfers, transportation and delivery to the final point of consumption. The Company provides fuel dispensers, payment systems, hanging hardware, underground containment systems, and monitoring and optimization software.
The Company competes with Fortive, Franklin Electric, Gardner Denver, Inc., IDEX Corp, Ingersoll Rand, ITT and SPX Corp.
Refrigeration & Food Equipment
The Refrigeration & Food Equipment segment serves the commercial refrigeration and food equipment end markets. The Company's Refrigeration businesses manufacture refrigeration systems, refrigeration display cases, specialty glass, commercial glass refrigerator and freezer doors and brazed heat exchangers used in industrial and climate control. The Company's Food Equipment businesses manufacture electrical distribution products and engineering services, commercial food service equipment, cook-chill production systems, custom food storage and preparation products, kitchen ventilation systems, conveyer systems and beverage can-making machinery. The Company provides the majority of its products and services to the supermarket industry, including retail and convenience stores, the commercial/industrial refrigeration industry, institutional and commercial food service and food production markets, and beverage can-making industries. The Refrigeration & Food Equipment segment's products are manufactured primarily in North America, Europe and Asia.
The Company competes with Panasonic, Lennox International, Alfa Laval, Manitowoc Company, Illinois Tool and Middleby.
