Advance Auto Parts, Inc., incorporated on August 1, 2001, provides automotive aftermarket parts in North America, serving do-it-for-me (Professional) and do-it-yourself (DIY), customers. The Company's stores and branches offer a selection of brand name, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and private label automotive replacement parts, accessories, batteries and maintenance items for domestic and imported cars, vans, sport utility vehicles and light and heavy duty trucks. The Company serves its Professional and DIY customers through various channels ranging from traditional brick and mortar store locations to self-serving e-commerce sites. As of December 31, 2016, the Company operated 5,062 total stores and 127 branches primarily under the trade names Advance Auto Parts, Autopart International, Carquest and Worldpac. As of December 31, 2016, the Company's Advance Auto Parts operations consisted of three geographic divisions, which included the operations of the stores operating under the Advance Auto Parts, Carquest and Autopart International trade names. The Company's e-commerce platforms, primarily consisting of its online Websites and Professional ordering platforms, are part of its integrated operating approach of serving its Professional and DIY customers. The Company's online Websites allow its DIY customers to pick up merchandise at a store or have their purchases shipped directly to them. The majority of the Company's online DIY sales are picked up at store locations. Through the Company's online ordering platforms, Professional customers can place orders with a designated store location for delivery to their places of business or pick-up.

The Company's categories of products include Parts and Batteries, accessories and chemicals, and Engine Maintenance. Its Parts and Batteries include Batteries and battery accessories, Belts and hoses, Brakes and brake pads, Chassis parts, Climate control parts, Clutches and drive shafts, Engines and engine parts, Exhaust systems and parts, Hub assemblies, Ignition components and wire, Radiators and cooling parts, Starters and alternators, and Steering and alignment parts. It accessories and chemicals include air fresheners, Antifreeze and washer fluid, Electrical wire and fuses, Electronics, Floor mats, seat covers and interior accessories, Hand and specialty tools, Lighting, Performance parts, Sealants, adhesives and compounds, Tire repair accessories, Vent shades, mirrors and exterior accessories, Washes, waxes and cleaning supplies, and Wiper blades. As of December 31, 2016, the Company's Advance Auto Parts consisted of 4,273 stores with focus on both Professional and DIY customers. As of December 31, 2016, the average size of an Advance store was approximately 7,500 square feet. These stores carry a range of products serving aftermarket auto part needs for both domestic and import vehicles. As of December 31, 2016, its Advance Auto Parts stores carried a product offering of approximately 23,000 stock keeping units (SKUs) consisting of a custom mix of product based on each store's respective market.
