The company (formerly called Galiform) came into existence in October 2006 after MFI Furniture Group sold its retail business and changed its name. The group is now focussed on its Howdens business. Howden Joinery sells kitchens and joinery products to the building trade.

Howden Joinery Group Plc has announced an interim dividend of 4.9p per share
Howden Joinery Group Plc wants to maintain and grow their ordinary dividend in line with earnings growth to reward shareholders with an ongoing income stream. Howdens remains committed to returning any surplus capital to shareholders. The interim dividend for 2024 of 4.9p per ordinary share (2023: 4.8p per share) represents an increase of 2.1% and will be paid on 22 November 2024 to shareholders on the register on 18 October 2024.
Howden Joinery Group announce a final dividend of 15.9 pence per share
The Howden Joinery Group Plc Board is recommending a final dividend for 2022 of 15.9p per ordinary share (2021: 15.2p per ordinary share), resulting in a total dividend of 20.6p per ordinary share (2021: 19.5p per ordinary share). The total dividend represents a year-over-year increase of 5.6% and the final dividend will be paid on 19 May 2023 to shareholders on the register on 11 April 2023.

The Howden Joinery Group's unchanged dividend policy is to target a dividend cover of between 2.5x and 3.0x, with one third of the previous year's dividend being paid as an interim dividend each year.As a result, the Board will recommend to shareholders a 2020 final dividend of 9.1p per ordinary share, equating to a dividend cover of 2.7 times. In addition, the Board has decided that the Group will pay a special dividend of 9.1p per ordinary share, equivalent to the cancelled 2019 final dividend.
