About Next plc.
Next is a relative newcomer to the UK retail market, having opened its first womenswear store in 1982. Within five months the group had 70 outlets open. In 1986 the group acquired mail order company Grattan and two years later launched its own directory business. With over 300 shops the group generates about three quarters of its revenue from its retail outlets. Almost all of the rest comes from its directory arm.

Next plc announce an ordinary interim dividend of 66p per share
It is intended that this year’s ordinary interim dividend of 66p per share will be paid to shareholders on 3 January 2023. NEXT plc shares will trade ex-dividend from 1 December 2022 and the record date will be 2 December 2022.
Next announces they will defer dividend
Next has decided to defer a decision on its dividend declaration. It is their usual practice at this time of the year to propose a final ordinary dividend to be paid at the start of August, subject to approval by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting held in May. However, given the highly unusual circumstances arising from the coronavirus, but they believe it is important to maintain flexibility around the timing of a decision to pay this dividend.
Next are declaring an ordinary interim dividend of 57.5p per share, which is up +4.5% on last year.

Next to pay a full year dividend of 159p in the coming year
The balance sheet remains strong with net debt of £549m at the end of July, although this was immediately before dividend payments in early August totalling £237m. Our balance sheet is financed by £788m of bonds and committed bank facilities of £550m after being recently increased and extended.
