About Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.

The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., incorporated on December 9, 1985, is a holding company for insurance and financial services subsidiaries. The Company, through its subsidiaries, provides property and casualty insurance, group life and disability products, and mutual funds and exchange-traded products to individual and business customers in the United States. The Company's segments include Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, Property & Casualty Other Operations, Group Benefits, Mutual Funds, and Corporate. The Company administers life insurance and annuity products previously sold.

Commercial Lines

The Commercial Lines segment provides workers' compensation, property, automobile, marine, livestock, liability and umbrella coverages primarily throughout the United States, along with a range of customized insurance products and risk management services, including professional liability, bond, surety and specialty casualty coverages. The Commercial Lines segment includes three lines of business: small commercial, middle market and specialty. Small commercial provides coverages for small businesses. Middle market provides insurance coverages to medium-sized businesses. The specialty line of business provides professional liability, bond, inland marine and livestock insurance.

Personal Lines

The Personal Lines segment provides automobile, homeowners and personal umbrella coverages to individuals across the United States. This segment also includes a special program designed for members of Association of American Retired Persons (AARP). The segment has auto and home product offerings, including Open Road Auto and Home Advantage products.

Property & Casualty Other Operations

The Property & Casualty Other Operations segment includes certain property and casualty operations, which are managed by the Company. It includes substantially all of the Company's asbestos and environmental exposures.

Group Benefits

The Group Benefits segment provides group life, accident and disability coverage, and other products and services to members of employer groups, associations and affinity groups. In addition to employer paid coverages, the Group Benefits segment offers voluntary product coverages, which are offered through employee payroll deductions. The Group Benefits segment also offers disability underwriting, administration, and claims processing to self-funded employer plans. In addition, the Group Benefits segment offers a single-company leave management solution, The Hartford Productivity Advantage, which integrates work absence data from the insurer's short-term and long-term group disability and workers' compensation insurance with its leave management administration services.

Mutual Funds

The Mutual Funds segment provides investment management, administration, product distribution and related services to investors through a set of investment products in domestic and international markets. Its products are separated into two distinct categories referred to as Mutual Fund and exchange-traded products (ETP). Mutual Fund includes managed open-ended mutual funds across a range of asset classes, including domestic and international equity, fixed income, and multi-strategy investments. It offers a suite of ETP traded on the New York Stock Exchange that track indices using both active and passive investment techniques, commonly referred to as strategic beta.
