Barratt has been building homes for more than 50 years. In that time they have grown to become one of the nation's largest housebuilders with more than 4,000 direct employees and 25 divisions throughout Britain.
They build developments nationwide, from Aberdeen to Plymouth, helping to meet housing demand in towns, cities and rural areas. They provide homes for all market sectors, plus homes for rent and shared ownership, and are leaders in brownfield development and urban regeneration.
They operate under two strong national brands for house building –Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes. They also have a strong regional brand –Ward Homes - operating in Kent and the South East.

The Barratt Developments plc Board has declared an interim dividend of 4.4 pence per share (HY23: 10.2 pence per share). The interim dividend will be paid on Friday 17 May 2024 to all shareholders on the register on Friday 12 April 2024. Shareholders who wish to elect for the Dividend Reinvestment Plan should do so by 26 April 2024. The Board, in line with its stated dividend policy, continues to target a full year ordinary dividend based on an ordinary dividend cover of 1.75x adjusted earnings per share.

Shareholders who wish to elect for the Dividend Reinvestment Plan should do so by 26 April 2022. The Board will now target a full year ordinary dividend based on an ordinary dividend cover of 2.25 times adjusted earnings per share.
Barratt Developments PLC announce final ordinary dividend per share of 21.9p
The Barratt Developments PLC Board established a new dividend policy based on an ordinary dividend with a 2.5 times dividend cover in 2020. The Board was delighted to resume dividend payments with the declaration of an interim dividend of 7.5 pence per share in February 2021 and is pleased to recommend a final dividend of 21.9 pence per share (2020: nil pence per share). Subject to shareholder approval, the final dividend will be paid on 9 November 2021 to those shareholders on the register as at the close of business on 1 October 2021. The total proposed ordinary dividend for 2021, including the interim dividend of 7.5 pence per share paid in May 2021, is 29.4 pence per share (2020: nil pence per share; 2019: 29.1 pence per share).

Disciplined operating framework and the speed of management decision making and actions, both at the start of the pandemic and thereafter, have delivered both a rapid and robust recovery and a further strengthened balance sheet.
Barratt Developments Group announce interim dividend off 9.8p per share
Barratt Developments have a defined dividend policy with the Group paying an ordinary dividend cover of 2.5 times. They have previously announced that when market conditions allow, ordinary dividends will be supplemented with special returns. As previously announced the Board intends to pay a special return of £175m in November 2020. Demonstrating the Board's confidence in the business going forward, it now proposes to pay a further special return of £175m in November 2021.
Barratt declares final ordinary dividend per share of 19.5p together with a 17.3p special dividend per share, resulting in a total dividend for the financial year of 46.4p
The Barrett Board proposes to pay a final ordinary dividend of 19.5 pence (2018: 17.9 pence) per share for the financial year ended 30 June 2019, which subject to shareholder approval, will be paid on Tuesday 5 November 2019 to shareholders on the register at the close of business on Friday 11 October 2019. Together with the interim ordinary dividend of 9.6 pence per share (2018: 8.6 pence per share), which was paid in the year, this gives a total ordinary dividend for the year of 29.1 pence per share (2018: 26.5 pence per share). With basic earnings per share of 73.2 pence (2018: 66.5 pence) the ordinary dividend is therefore covered around 2.5 times by earnings, in line with their ordinary dividend policy.
